The Prison Policy Initiative (PPI) is an excellent resource for research that exposes “the broader harm of mass criminalization” and imprisonment in the United States. PPI has research specific to women and imprisonment and North Carolina.
The Inside Prison Book Project out of Austin, TX collaborated with people in prison to develop this comprehensive resource guide: Inside Book Project Resource Guide
Survived and Punished hosts a resource page on their website that addresses “the criminalization and incarceration of survivors of gender violence and activist strategies to free them.” The resources include fact sheets, policy briefs, popular education curricula, and various political campaigns supporting incarcerated survivors.
